Match Preview: Bayern Vs Manchester City

Pep Guardiola makes an instant return to the Allianz Arena as his first match in-charge of his new Manchester City team will be against his former team Bayern Munich on Wednesday (20 July). The Citizens have a short pre-season, but will see them face top sides from the Bundesliga and the Premier League.

They begin their pre-season against the German champions, following which they travel to China, where they will face Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund in the International Champions Cup. Their final pre-season game is against Arsenal at Gothenburg in Sweden before they take on Sunderland in their first Premier League game on 13 August.

Guardiola will not have all the first-team players at his disposal as the likes of Sergio Aguero, Kevin De Bruyne, David Silva and Bacary Sagna are on extended holidays following their participation at the recently concluded European Championship with their national teams.

Bayern Munich, on the other hand, have already begun their pre-season campaign and the game against City will be their second following their 3-4 win over SV Lippstadt. Arjen Robben suffered an injury during the game and has been ruled out for six weeks. Carlo Ancelotti has already strengthened his team ahead of next season with Mats Hummels and Renato Sanches being added to the squad and will be keen to get one over Guardiola, who is likely to get a rousing welcome on his return to the Allianz Arena.
