Arsenal vs Huddersfield : Match Preview & Prediction

Team News

 Arsenal
  • Mesut Ozil missed Sunday’s clash with Burnley through illness and Arsene Wenger may opt against playing him here with a view to this weekend’s clash with Manchester United.
  • With Alex Iwobi also unlikely to play due to a dead leg, Jack Wilshere will fancy his chances of making a first Premier League start of the season.
  • Danny Welbeck and Olivier Giroud will push for the chance to lead the line if Wenger wants Alexandre Lacazette fresh for the reception of Manchester United.
 Huddersfield
  • Rajiv van La Parra is suspended after being sent off at the end of their 2-1 defeat to Manchester City on Sunday.
  • David Wagner will almost certainly have to ring the changes for the trip to Arsenal after their draining performance at the weekend.
  • Part of those changes should see Steve Mounie start his first game since September, while Elias Kachunga will come back into the reckoning after failing to get on against City.
  • Chris Löwe may also regain his starting spot at left-back, while Abdelhamid Sabiri and Florent Hadergjonaj may also get rare chances to start.

Match Facts

Arsenal have won their last 11 home matches (Premier League).

Arsenal have scored at least 2 goals in their last 9 home matches (Premier League).

Huddersfield have failed to score in their last 5 away matches (Premier League).

Huddersfield have lost their last 3 away matches (Premier League).

Huddersfield have conceded at least 2 goals in their last 3away matches (Premier League).

Prediction

  • While Arsenal stole all three points at the death against Burnley on Sunday, Huddersfield suffered heartbreak in the dying embers of their 2-1 defeat to Manchester City.
  • The Gunners know they will be in for a tough game on Wednesday night but fatigue may really prevent Huddersfield from turning in another display as heroic as the one they managed against the Premier League leaders.
  • Arsenal have a huge match against Manchester United to follow but need to keep their focus on Huddersfield for now. Arsene Wenger’s side are unbeaten in their last 10 at the Emirates and have won nine of those. They should continue that trend in midweek.

Lyon vs Lille : Match Preview & Prediction

Team News

 Lyon
  • Look for Bruno Génésio to employ a decent amount of rotation, with Jordan Ferri and Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa among those in line for a rare start.
  • Mariano may also be rested; Myziane Maolida has impressed in a handful of cameos and could make his full debut here, but Memphis Depay is also an option up top.
  • Nabil Fekir will return to the side here after missing Sunday’s match through illness.
 Lille
  • Lille may opt for a 4-3-3 or even a 3-5-1-1 as they seek to limit in-form Lyon.
  • Thiago Mendes remains a doubt through injury, meaning youngster Bissouma could get the call here.
  • Lille, through a lack of options in terms of the playing staff, once again won’t look radically different from Bielsa’s sides, even if the tactics are changed.

Match Facts

Lyon have kept a clean sheet in their last 5 matches (Ligue 1).

Lille have failed to score in 6 of their last 8 away matches (Ligue 1).

Lyon have won 5 of their last 6 matches (Ligue 1).

There have been over 2.5 goals scored in Lille‘s last 4 games (Ligue 1).

Lyon have scored at least 2 goals in 7 of their last 8 matches (Ligue 1).

Prediction

  • Lyon will take this opportunity to keep their playing squad fresh; the absences of Morel and Traoré are frustrating, but Bruno Génésio will be confident of his team’s abilities against the league’s current crisis team.
  • Lille will see no shame in losing away to Ligue 1’s in-form side, but they lack the defensive solidity to stop Les Gones.

Manchester City vs Southampton : Match Preview & Prediction

Team News

 Manchester City
  • Pep Guardiola will shuffle his pack for the reception of Southampton after Manchester City were pushed all the way by Huddersfield on Sunday.
  • Gabriel Jesus has not started City’s last two but will certainly lead the line on Wednesday, while Bernardo Silva should benefit with a start here.
  • Kevin De Bruyne struggled against Huddersfield and Guardiola may rest the Belgian in midweek as a result.
  • Vincent Kompany still needs to be managed carefully and he may be replaced in defence by Eliaquim Mangala.
  • Danilo should also benefit from the hectic fixture list with his four league start of the campaign.
Southampton
  • Mario Lemina returned from injury at the end of Southampton’s 4-1 win over Everton on Sunday.
  • Oriol Romeu is also available again after serving a one-match ban at the weekend, leaving Mauricio Pellegrino with a headache when picking his midfield.
  • Pierre-Emile Højbjerg and Steven Davis both impressed against Everton and will hope to start at the Etihad.
  • Charlie Austin was on hand with a brace at the weekend but his involvement on Wednesday will depend on how quickly he can recover after barely playing this season.

Match Facts

Man City have won their last 11 matches (Premier League).

Man City have scored at least 3 goals in their last 5 home matches (Premier League).

Man City have been winning at both half time and full timein 8 of their last 9 home matches (Premier League).

Man City have scored at least 2 goals in 6 of their last 7 matches against Southampton in all competitions.

Man City are undefeated in their last 7 home matches against Southampton in all competitions.

Prediction

  • Manchester City maintained their eight point lead at the top of the Premier League at the weekend, while also gaining ground on Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham. Pep Guardiola’s side have now won their last 11 in the league and it’s safe to assume they are champions elect.
  • Southampton turned in their best performance of the season when they thrashed a dismal Everton side 4-1 on Sunday but City are a completely different beast altogether, particularly at the Etihad. It’s hard to see Mauricio Pellegrino’s side taking any points home on Wednesday night.
