FA CUP Match Preview : Liverpool vs Plymouth


Liverpool are unbeaten in their last seven FA Cup third round fixtures and have beaten lower league opposition in four of those years, although they did require a replay to overcome Exeter at this stage of the competition last season.

Plymouth are second in League Two and have won 10 of their 16 away matches in all competitions this season, losing the other six. Liverpool – Liverpool have plenty of injury concerns ahead of the reception of Plymouth in the FA Cup third round on Sunday but Jurgen Klopp is expected to field a side mainly consisting of kids.


Jordan Henderson has a heel injury that kept him out of the 2-2 draw with Sunderland and won’t be risked here. Joel Matip has missed their last five matches with an ankle injury and, like Henderson, will be rested with a view to returning against Manchester United the following weekend.

Philippe Coutinho is back in training and may get some minutes from the bench to get some match sharpness ahead of the United clash.

Sadio Mane is away with Senegal on international duty for the Africa Cup of Nations and won’t be available for the next month.

Plymouth– Plymouth are expected much of the same team that has done so well for them in League Two this season.
