Team News

Tottenham
  • Dele Alli is available in the Champions League for the first time this season and could come into the starting XI behind Harry Kane, though the England international is a doubt with a hamstring problem, but has trained with the squad ahead of Wednesday’s match.
  • Erik Lamela and Victor Wanyama will both miss out here, though Spurs’ injury issues have eased in recent weeks.
  • Mauricio Pochettino could use a defensive setup, with Eric Dier playing in defence once more and Jan Vertonghen at left-back as he did at the Bernabeu.
Real Madrid
  • Keylor Navas and Gareth Bale are both injured for Real Madrid and are joined by Jesus Vallejo and Mateo Kovacic on the sidelines.
  • Dani Carvajal has overcome a heart problem, but he is unlikely to feature and he continues to be monitored by the club.
  • Raphael Varane is ruled out for the away side having been forced off at half time in the 2-1 loss to Girona and could be replaced by Nacho in defence.

Match Facts

Tottenham have seen under 2.5 goals in their last 3 matches against Real Madrid in all competitions.

Prediction

  • Tottenham have lost their last two competitive outings and have won just one of their last four, though one of those fixtures was a 1-1 draw with Real Madrid in Madrid. They have flattered to deceive on home turf this term, though have lost only two of eight at Wembley this season.
  • Like Spurs, Real Madrid lost away from home at the weekend, falling to a 2-1 loss at Girona. Prior to that, though, Los Blancos had been in fine form on the road, winning the previous seven competitive matches away from the Bernabeu.
  • Real Madrid will be keen to return to winning ways after defeat to Girona, as will Spurs, and this could be a draw as a result.
