Europe» Champions League – 2019/2020 – Champions League Final Stage » Liverpool vs Atletico Madrid

Liverpool

  • Andrew Robertson and Jordan Henderson have returned to training in the build-up to Liverpool’s second leg against Atletico Madrid. They will require further assessment but it would be a surprise if they didn’t both start on Wednesday.
  • Fabinho has been particularly poor for Liverpool in recent matches and there is a case that he should really be dropped. It would, however, be a massive call from Jurgen Klopp in a match of this magnitude.
  • Alisson is a major doubt for Liverpool after missing the 2-1 win over Bournemouth through injury. Adrian looks set to start in goal for the home side.

Atletico Madrid

  • Atletico Madrid’s injury woes have eased since the first leg and they now have Joao Felix, Diego Costa and Alvaro Morata available to pick from in attack. Thomas Lemar was also back in training on Monday.
  • Alvaro Morata and Renan Lodi were both absent from training at the start of the week but Atletico expect both to make the squad to face Liverpool on Wednesday.
  • Diego Simeone will have to pick between Kieran Trippier and Sime Vrsaljko at right-back on Wednesday.
  • Thomas Partey was suspended at the weekend but will line up in central midfield against Liverpool.
  • Jose Gimenez was back on the bench at the weekend after a lengthy spell out injured. Simeone would ideally like to start his best centre-back here but Gimenez hasn’t played since the start of the year and his inclusion would be a gamble.
