Napoli vs Juventus: Match Preview & Prediction

Team News

 Napoli
  • Mario Rui should be fully fit to start, even though Christian Maggio did well last week.
  • Marek Hamsik is expected to play to provide experience in midfield, despite having lost the brilliance of his best years.
  • Allan and Jorginho should complete the midfield, with Piotr Zielinski dropping out.
Juventus
  • Gonzalo Higuain has managed to train with Juventus despite fracturing his hand, but will reportedly have to settle for a place on the bench at best against his former side.
  • With Higuain not expected to start, Massimiliano Allegri has been tipped to stick with the 3-4-2-1 formation he used against Crotone, but with Mario Mandzukic out, Paulo Dybala leads the line.
  • With Stephan Lichtsteiner injured, Mattia De Sciglio is expected to start at right wing-back, although Juan Cuadrado could also play there.

Napoli have scored at least 2 goals in 8 of their last 9 home matches (Serie A).

Napoli are undefeated in 12 of their last 13 home matches against Juventus in all competitions.

Prediction

  • Napoli have shown in recent weeks that they can win playing brilliant football and earn “dirty points” as only top clubs do. They seem to be real contenders for the title this season and the meeting with Juventus will be the ultimate test of their ambitions.
  • Juventus are not far off the top and they have demonstrated in previous seasons how they gain momentum later in the campaign, and when it counts the most. However, they may need this victory more than Napoli to prove that their dominance over Serie A is not over yet.
  • Whatever the outcome, the philosophy recently adopted by both sides suggests this should be an entertaining game, as Juventus boast the best attack in the league and Napoli are renowned for their attacking style.
  • That said, one of the two coaches could make a significant change in order to surprise his opposite number, while Max Allegri has always been more prone to changes than Maurizio Sarri.

Arsenal vs Huddersfield : Match Preview & Prediction

Team News

 Arsenal
  • Mesut Ozil missed Sunday’s clash with Burnley through illness and Arsene Wenger may opt against playing him here with a view to this weekend’s clash with Manchester United.
  • With Alex Iwobi also unlikely to play due to a dead leg, Jack Wilshere will fancy his chances of making a first Premier League start of the season.
  • Danny Welbeck and Olivier Giroud will push for the chance to lead the line if Wenger wants Alexandre Lacazette fresh for the reception of Manchester United.
 Huddersfield
  • Rajiv van La Parra is suspended after being sent off at the end of their 2-1 defeat to Manchester City on Sunday.
  • David Wagner will almost certainly have to ring the changes for the trip to Arsenal after their draining performance at the weekend.
  • Part of those changes should see Steve Mounie start his first game since September, while Elias Kachunga will come back into the reckoning after failing to get on against City.
  • Chris Löwe may also regain his starting spot at left-back, while Abdelhamid Sabiri and Florent Hadergjonaj may also get rare chances to start.

Match Facts

Arsenal have won their last 11 home matches (Premier League).

Arsenal have scored at least 2 goals in their last 9 home matches (Premier League).

Huddersfield have failed to score in their last 5 away matches (Premier League).

Arsenal have been winning at both half time and full time in 5 of their last 7 home matches (Premier League).

Huddersfield have lost their last 3 away matches (Premier League).

Huddersfield have conceded at least 2 goals in their last 3away matches (Premier League).

Prediction

  • While Arsenal stole all three points at the death against Burnley on Sunday, Huddersfield suffered heartbreak in the dying embers of their 2-1 defeat to Manchester City.
  • The Gunners know they will be in for a tough game on Wednesday night but fatigue may really prevent Huddersfield from turning in another display as heroic as the one they managed against the Premier League leaders.
  • Arsenal have a huge match against Manchester United to follow but need to keep their focus on Huddersfield for now. Arsene Wenger’s side are unbeaten in their last 10 at the Emirates and have won nine of those. They should continue that trend in midweek.

Lyon vs Lille : Match Preview & Prediction

Team News

 Lyon
  • Look for Bruno Génésio to employ a decent amount of rotation, with Jordan Ferri and Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa among those in line for a rare start.
  • Mariano may also be rested; Myziane Maolida has impressed in a handful of cameos and could make his full debut here, but Memphis Depay is also an option up top.
  • Nabil Fekir will return to the side here after missing Sunday’s match through illness.
 Lille
  • Lille may opt for a 4-3-3 or even a 3-5-1-1 as they seek to limit in-form Lyon.
  • Thiago Mendes remains a doubt through injury, meaning youngster Bissouma could get the call here.
  • Lille, through a lack of options in terms of the playing staff, once again won’t look radically different from Bielsa’s sides, even if the tactics are changed.

Match Facts

Lyon have kept a clean sheet in their last 5 matches (Ligue 1).

Lille have failed to score in 6 of their last 8 away matches (Ligue 1).

Lyon have won 5 of their last 6 matches (Ligue 1).

There have been over 2.5 goals scored in Lille‘s last 4 games (Ligue 1).

Lyon have scored at least 2 goals in 7 of their last 8 matches (Ligue 1).

Prediction

  • Lyon will take this opportunity to keep their playing squad fresh; the absences of Morel and Traoré are frustrating, but Bruno Génésio will be confident of his team’s abilities against the league’s current crisis team.
  • Lille will see no shame in losing away to Ligue 1’s in-form side, but they lack the defensive solidity to stop Les Gones.

Manchester City vs Southampton : Match Preview & Prediction

Team News

 Manchester City
  • Pep Guardiola will shuffle his pack for the reception of Southampton after Manchester City were pushed all the way by Huddersfield on Sunday.
  • Gabriel Jesus has not started City’s last two but will certainly lead the line on Wednesday, while Bernardo Silva should benefit with a start here.
  • Kevin De Bruyne struggled against Huddersfield and Guardiola may rest the Belgian in midweek as a result.
  • Vincent Kompany still needs to be managed carefully and he may be replaced in defence by Eliaquim Mangala.
  • Danilo should also benefit from the hectic fixture list with his four league start of the campaign.
Southampton
  • Mario Lemina returned from injury at the end of Southampton’s 4-1 win over Everton on Sunday.
  • Oriol Romeu is also available again after serving a one-match ban at the weekend, leaving Mauricio Pellegrino with a headache when picking his midfield.
  • Pierre-Emile Højbjerg and Steven Davis both impressed against Everton and will hope to start at the Etihad.
  • Charlie Austin was on hand with a brace at the weekend but his involvement on Wednesday will depend on how quickly he can recover after barely playing this season.

Match Facts

Man City have won their last 11 matches (Premier League).

Man City have scored at least 3 goals in their last 5 home matches (Premier League).

Man City have been winning at both half time and full timein 8 of their last 9 home matches (Premier League).

Man City have scored at least 2 goals in 6 of their last 7 matches against Southampton in all competitions.

Man City are undefeated in their last 7 home matches against Southampton in all competitions.

Prediction

  • Manchester City maintained their eight point lead at the top of the Premier League at the weekend, while also gaining ground on Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham. Pep Guardiola’s side have now won their last 11 in the league and it’s safe to assume they are champions elect.
  • Southampton turned in their best performance of the season when they thrashed a dismal Everton side 4-1 on Sunday but City are a completely different beast altogether, particularly at the Etihad. It’s hard to see Mauricio Pellegrino’s side taking any points home on Wednesday night.

Watford vs Manchester United: Match Preview & Prediction

Team News

 Watford
  • Troy Deeney is available again after serving a three-game ban.
  • Miguel Britos came off before the hour-mark in the 3-0 win against Newcastle on Saturday and may not recover in time for Tuesday. Sebastian Prödl will deputise in his absence.
  • Marco Silva will need to assess the fitness of his players given the quick turnaround, so changes could be made against Manchester United.
  • Roberto Pereyra and Jose Holebas will surely come into Silva’s thinking, although Marvin Zeegelaar’s form may keep the latter out.
Manchester United
  • Jose Mourinho is expected to make changes to the side that narrowly beat Brighton 1-0 on Saturday.
  • Eric Bailly and Phil Jones remain doubts, but Marcos Rojo should come into the equation on Tuesday night. Mourinho may go to a back three here if he knows one of Bailly and Jones will be fit for the trip to Arsenal.
  • Matteo Darmian and Daley Blind were both dropped from the matchday squad at the weekend and may come into the equation if Mourinho want’s Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young fit for Arsenal a few days later.
  • After watching United struggle in midfield against Brighton, Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera will expect to start at Vicarage Road, but Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Luke Shaw have not travelled.
  • Zlatan Ibrahimovic may have to settle for another spot on the bench in midweek.

Match Facts

Man Utd are undefeated in 34 of their last 38 matches (Premier League).

Man Utd have won 9 of their last 10 matches against Watford in all competitions.

Watford have seen over 2.5 goals in their last 6 home matches against Man Utd in all competitions.

Watford have scored at least 2 goals in 7 of their last 8 matches (Premier League).

Prediction

  • Watford have won successive matches and kept clean sheets in that run. They have already taken points off Arsenal and Liverpool this season, while they also came close to beating Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Given Manchester United’s recent struggles at Vicarage Road, Marco Silva’s side should be confident of another upset.
  • Manchester United limped to a 1-0 win over newly promoted Brighton on Saturday and now face a potential banana-skin trip to Watford ahead of a huge clash with Arsenal a few days later. Jose Mourinho’s side lost 3-1 in this corresponding fixture last season and will need to perform much better than they did on Saturday to avoid another defeat.

  • After drawing 1-1 with West Brom on Saturday, Spurs have won just one of their last four Premier League matches and have lost their last two on the road. Now out of the top-4, Mauricio Pochettino will demand a return to winning ways here.

Getafe have scored at least 2 goals in their last 3 matches (La Liga).

Prediction

  • Espanyol have lost their last two La Liga games, but Quique Sanchez Flores’ men are notoriously difficult to break down and dominate.
  • The hosts haven’t scored in either of those defeats, with a short-term injury to Leo Baptistao sure not to help matters. With Gerard Moreno carrying a calf problem, plenty of the goalscoring burden is placed on Sergio Garcia’s shoulders.
  • Getafe are unbeaten in their last four La Liga games, with Jose Bordalas having his team playing some excellent football. Angel in particular is looking very dangerous indeed.

Team News

 Monaco
  • Djibril Sidibé and Thomas Lemar remain doubts through injury, and look to be joined by Stevan Jovetic.
  • Almamy Touré seems to have lost the trust of Leonardo Jardim this season, but could be given a chance here.
  • If Jardim opts to match PSG’s 4-3-3 system with his own, Rachid Ghezzal should be preferred to Rony Lopes owing to his success in that system at Lyon.
Paris Saint Germain
  • Yuri Berchiche and Thomas Meunier should come back into defence, per Unai Emery’s habit of rotating his full-backs.
  • Javier Pastore could start in central midfield, with Julian Draxler also an option.
  • Kylian Mbappé didn’t make an appearance in the win over Nantes, but should start here after scoring in midweek.

Prediction

  • A hotly anticipated match a month ago, Monaco’s recent stumbles have taken some of the lustre off of this encounter. Injuries have played their part, but the defence has also looked suspect at times, with Jemerson’s own goal against RB Leipzig punctuating a downturn in form from the Brazilian.
  • Paris Saint-Germain continue to cruise after demolishing Celtic 7-1 in midweek, but could suffer from fatigue given their lack of options in midfield.
